Hi.
I have been using a SIGMA EF-500 DG ST flash on my 300D and 350D cameras with no problems. I've also been using my Canon 380EX Speedlite on both with no problems. My SIGMA packed it in so I decided to go genuine and bought a Canon 430EX II Speedlite - mainly because I need the pan and tilt features that the 380 doesn't have.
Now - here's the problem.
The 430EX II works on the 300D but not on the 350D.
I cannot get the 'flash ready' signal in left of the viewfinder, hence I cannot shoot with flash.
H-E-L-P!!!!!
Any clues please?

Try cleaning the contacts on the camera hotshoe. Also check to see that the shoe isnt bent or misaligned on the 350D.

Thanks gonzogolf.
I think I'll have to give my Canon tech a look at it.
Having the previous flash unit broken away by a wayward waitress at a wedding wouldn't have helped.
I believe the hot shoe may be warped - at least the metal keepers on top.
Cheers.
