This coming weekend I'm going to take 3 models out on the city streets to get some cool urban shots. Even though I have a permit I want to move fast and want to avoid having to spend time setting up light stands everywhere I go. So I was thinking of sticking my Alzo 15" softbox on a mono stand with wireless strobe and having the models take turns in holding it up. My only concern would be the amount and quality of light I get out of the softbox, although I am shooting in daylight, albeit in the shade. Ideally I would use a shoot through umbrella or my 28" Apollo softbox but they're not quite as portable.

Any ideas?

get a couple of VALs (voice activated light-stands - aka. assistant or your models). running through a city to get some urban shots with flash is not as fun as it seems.

a) make sure that your shoot is well into the night time where your ambient light exposure is under the 1/200 range for flexibility of your shots

b) make sure that you try to bring another strobe with you for a fill or a key.

can you get yourself a flexible lens? a 24-70 perhaps?

Works great with Speedlights or Studio Strobes like Alien Bee with a Vagabond II

F THE SPEEDLIGHTS.
GET YOURSELF A LOWELL ID LIGHT, WITH A BELTPACK W/ENUF POWER TO get you going strap that bad boy on a manfrotto monopod and have at it. take the guess work outta the lighting scheme and see it as it is.
