just the name of the road the inlet is on. kind of fitting though, the water was really calm and peaceful for an inlet on long island sound.

the shot above is a 9 exposure hdr, below is the proper exposure. i think it came out better than last weeks parking garage attempt.

Looking at what's happening in the side of #1, I like the "proper exposure" shot better.
In the last two, I wouldn't center the boat so much. Load your image & see how it works in the Composition Adjuster. (http://photoinf.com/Tools/Composition_Adjuster/Java-Composition-Adjuster.html)

you mean the rear 1/4 panel in the 1st one? the 3rd pic is also an hdr with the str turned almost all the way down.
the 1st boat shot i tried to center the boat and the reflection in the hill symmetrically. guess i missed a bit.

you mean the rear 1/4 panel in the 1st one? And the door. The HDR seems to bring up the light toned reflections & make them more prominent. center the boat and the reflection in the hill symmetrically. If you're going for a static, peaceful shot, then that would work & it's your shot, so do what you prefer. I just like more unbalanced dynamics so I'd put the boat more off to the side.

i ususally try to off set stuff as well with both the center point of the image and what is in focus and not. this one i just liked with the reflections.
