Who says you cant get good pictures from the 300D kit lens?
These two were taken with it, both are unedited except for resizing.

Those are pretty great! I like the purple one a lot. The one on the right though is a little too blurry. Still great shots for the nifty 50 kit lens.

I agree the kit lens can do a good job. Certainly good enough for my skill level. These are very pretty shots. The tulip is a little soft, but that may be what you wanted as it sure looks good.

both were centre focused on the stamen as that was what I wanted be the focal point. I guess the DOF was pretty small
