Pueblo in July...can you say "hot"...but it's a dry heat and you won't notice it...yeah right.
Most of my pbase images linked below are from the Pueblo area and points south. Too much info to list here.
PM me for phone number if you're interested in a conversation. ;)

How much time will you have to travel away from Pueblo? The photographic possibilities in Colorado are endless...

I don't know the purpose of going to Pueblo, but it is not the part of Colorado that comes to mind when someone says "Colorado". Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak, etc are within about 50 miles and make a good photo destination. There are a couple scenic drives near Pueblo, but they aren't spectacular. Most of true Colorado is much farther west. If you can't go to other areas, I'd spend my time around Colorado Springs.

Skip Seven Falls. It's a man-made waterfall and it's really not all that wonderful.
Garden of the Gods is awesome and so easy to get to. We've been getting a lot of rain so it may be really nice and green.
Rocky Mountain NP is a great place. Sunrise @ Dream Lake is a great shot. (Photo club here is doing this on the 18th)
Great Sand Dunes NP is not too far from Pueblo.
If you make it up to some of the Northern CO stuff, I'm up that way.

If you're staying in Pueblo, you HAVE to go to the Great Sand Dunes NP. I've lived in CO for almost 6 years now, and its one of my favorite places to visit.
One drive that would be fun is to head up to CO Springs and then take Hwy 24 into Park County (almost all the way to Buena Vista). The area is beautiful and the mountains will blow you away. If you're feeling really adventurous (and don't mind lots of driving), head up Cottonwood Pass from Buena Vista for some great shots.

Its been a bit cooler and wetter this spring than recent years. That said, you can always expect afternoon rains in the high country (9k+ feet). Bluebird skies abound, but its always a good idea to get on the trail very early and off the mountain (or at least headed down) by 1500. Mid July should be good for wildflowers. American Basin specifically, and the San Juan Mountains in general.
Hanging Lake in Glenwood Canyon is about 2.5 hours west of Denver - very picturesque. Expect many day hikers, so I get on the trail pre-sunrise. Short but steep hike.
Great Sand Dunes National Park provides a lot of interesting opportunities. The San Luis Valley in general gives great skies and isolated storm systems.
A cog rail train will carry you to the top of Pike's Peak or you can drive.
Pawnee Buttes in the NE corner of the state is hot and dry prairie, but the buttes are a nice contrast to the rest of the landscape.
Its hard to go wrong in this lovely state. Enjoy and good luck.
