I don't know if this is the right forum for this question, but I'll start here. I recently replaced my aging pc with a new Mac. I also replaced my editing software at the same time...point being that I'm dealing with a bunce of new stuff, and a lot of variables right now. I have a picture that the local paper wants to use, so I e-mailed it to them. The editor asked me to send a larger version, so I did. Same thing was received on her end. Apparently the mail program that came on the Mac is re-sizing the attachments before it sends them. I can't find any settings to change (which doesn't mean they aren't there, but I can't find them if they are), so am wondering if anyone else has encountered this, and how you corrected it. Are there settings I'm missing, or do I just need a different mail program, and if so, could you recommend one? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Mike

This may be a mute point, but something to ponder upon:

When you attach something to your message in Mac, the drop down browse window has a box to check at the bottom which says "Send Windows-Friendly Attachments". Have you checked the box and tried it?

If that doesn't work, see if there is something in Mail Preferences. I haven't had any issues with it. So, I don't know.

Good luck, Mike.

Googling (http://www.google.com/search?q=mac+resizing+attachments+avoid) provided this (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1615154&tstart=0) result. If that doesn't work, you could always try external, like GMail.

Thank you!! I tried both ways re: the "windows friendly" check box, and there was no change. jonta, you may have hit it with your google search. I'll try it again later when I have some time and see if that's the problem. Thanks again for your time and help!:D

Addendum...jonta, that was indeed the problem...I never even noticed that little pop up box in the lower right. It's pretty small when you're looking at a 24" monitor! Thanks again!
