I know PHD Guiding comes recommended a lot, and up until the other night it was the only guiding software I had used. Last couple of times, though, I'm finding it quite a resource hog and my netbook crashing or losing connection with the mount.

I have had EQAlign 2 installed for a while, but haven't given it a go. I did the other night, and it seems wonderful. Not as much of a resource hog as PHD, just as easy if not easier to use. And it does much more. It also has a drift alignment tool to make that much easier. Also a Periodic Error measurement and correction tool, and even a GOTO tool although I will probably stick with Cartes du Ciel 3 since I like it a lot.

Anyway, I highly recommend you check it out. Very simple, powerful, and free.

Still like the simplicity of PHD and it has never ever let me down. I know it can cause USB problems but I have never found it. Works like a dream ST4 into the EQ6 Pro

The guiding part of EQAlign is just as simple if not more simple than PHD.
