Thanks. I'll try and work out what they all are, can't remember myself. Know the white one on left is TSR2, behind it is a York, Westland Whirlwind, the white bit of tail on right belongs to a Sunderland flying boat. Rest I'll figure out. Vulcan is still a beauty, even when static.

Ah yes, the TSR2...Right...
Actually, the Avro Arrow looks much more like the Vulcan.

Now that the identities of the mix have been revealed, number 6 is a B-25, not a B-24 unless he lost a couple of engines. Also, Memphis Belle is on the RIGHT side of the B-17. Otherwise, great stuff!

Nice shots. I've seen that Corsair before. What's the insignia painted on the underside of the wing? New Zealand?

Can someone help out with the markings on the F4-U? I don't recognize those.
Thanks,
Odie

I was wondering what the white one was. I looked up the tail number to find that it is a TSR.2 Prototype...so that clears it up ???

Just hazarding a guess but, if I remember correctly, RNAS planes in the Pacific Theatre removed the red from the center of the roundels because, from a distance, the red could be mistaken for the Japanese roundel. Not sure if the RNAS flew the F4-U or not.

Wow - great pics and certainly lots to see Chris, very nice shots of some very neat airplanes !
In the indoor group shot the plane with the red checkered tail in RCAF camo just above the Vulcan is an Avro CF-100 Canuck, or 'Clunk' as they were dubbed. Between those two in the background in red, white and black (G-ALFU) is a DeHavilland Dove. There are no surviving Avro Arrows (CF-105s), they were all scrapped after the Arrow program was terminated by the Canadian government in the mid 50's - a small forward fuselage portion of RL-201 is on display in the Canadian Aviation Museum collection in Ottawa at what was known as Rockcliffe air base (CFB Ottawa North).
Odie - I believe the markings on that F4-U Corsair are Royal Navy insignia circa, mid '40s.

Thanks for the corrections guys, I knew I shouldn't edit and upload late at night :-)
One other hiding in the mix, behind the Vulcan tail, right of Jag, is a Jet Provost Mk4 Strikemaster in Saudi AF colours.

Lovely pics, would you recommend Duxford as I am hoping to go to some of the shows later in year. Well done for braving it as it was crappy weather that weekend, it has put me off buying ticket in advance.

Thanks guys
Adrian, I would highly recommend Duxford for any of thier shows. This weekend past was crappy weather, but still enjoyed it. Been to a few over the last couple of years, and it's always well organised, plenty to see, both static and flying. Plus you have the museums as well. It's a good day out, and for photos it's not bad either. Sun is not in the best place during the afternoon, but not a major problem.
I'll be there again in July for the Flying legends show, definately recommend this one.
Also, look to Old Warden, as they have some very interesting aircraft flying, and you are quite close to the flightline. Here they also have Swiss gardens and a falconry centre for the rest of family :-)
As far as weather goes, last year spent 2 hard hours climbing Axalp for the show in October, only to have it cancelled before I'd even got my camera out :-)

Thanks Shultz. Standing was a problem at times. I was doing a good impression of a weather vane at times with the 100-400 and it's hood :-)
I was disappointed when the Mustang held off then just came in and landed again, but understandable. Once we got out the carpark, the weather was just fantastic, blue sky and sunshine.
