Not too long ago, I purchased the 24-70L from Newegg b/c I have the option of paying it off within 12 months with 0% APR. It came in, used it, decided to exchange it b/c the zoom was a little stiff at the wide end. Long story short, my replacement lens was stolen from my front door! UPS decided it was safe to leave it at the front door, on my porch and what do you know, it's missing!
So, has anyone ever had a package, more specifically a lens, stolen during delivery/in transit? Share you're stories please.

had it happen about 5-6 months ago .bought a 580ex flash from buydig ,fed ex left it and it got stolen .buydig said I have to wait till the claim is investigated so I callled paypal cause I used paypal pay later credit card they said they would handle it .2 days later I get email from paypal saying they are crediting my account. so call newegg credit card customer service they will take care of it .it is not considered delivered when just left at your door.,thats one of the reasons its insured when its shipped .thats on fedex now

Damn that sucks. You would think they would get a signature for a $1,200 lens. I already filed a claim with Newegg and its under investigation right now. I had the option of either getting a replacement or a refund...I opted for the refund. I'm going to try to take the train up to NY to visit B and H to pick up the lens locally...this sucks

Instead of heading to NYC, give "The Camera Shop" in Bryn Mawr a try. They are right on Lancaster Avenue.

Nice folks and a nice selection of glass.

Oh yea! I remember driving by that place before...do they have a good in-store selection? Have you ever had your 40D cleaned from there before?

Don't know about cleaning, but they have an EXCELLENT in-store selection. Much better than any Ritz Camera store. The few times I've been in there they've had the 24-70L. They also have a nice selection of used lenses; last time I went in there they had a 50/1.2 :)

Karma for trying to swipe a 70-200 from Amazon?
:p
jk. I hope you get this worked out with Newegg!
I actually left work early once I saw that my 70-200 had been dropped off and was most likely sitting on the front steps.

What ??? It was left at your front door with your house unattended?? As far as I'm concerned it's the couriers problem.. Has the package been signed for?? If it hasn't it could have been stolen by the delivery guy..

Sorry to hear about your lens. Always wondered about this sort of thing. UPS does that to me sometimes too. While Newegg has excellent customer service I dont see how you could claim this against them. It was clearly UPS's fault. Unless you contacted Newegg and they went to UPS to claim the theft. Would be a lot less painful if they would do that for you.

Not swipe, but more of a misunderstanding lol as soon as I found out Amazon wanted it back, I had to do what I had to do.

The package was left on the porch and no one signed for it.

I filed a claim with Newegg and Newegg will review it and file a claim with UPS; from my understanding.

You had already traded one of them for a 40D, and you still have the other one, so I know you didn't just ship it back.
Didn't you also buy the 70-200 on credit? You must be getting pretty deep in bills

first one was traded, amazon finally requested it back, so since I already traded, I paid for it. Both lenses were purchased on credit with 12 months 0% apr. I purchased another 40D from David on here with a bg-e2n for a great price, so I'm selling the original 40D that I have since I have two.
Next time you got something on your mind or if you got a problem with me, dont beat around the bush. PM me or come straight out and say it. I dont have to explain myself to anyone but if someone has a question about something, ask.

Yeah, UPS claims have to be filed by the shipper.

A long time ago, back when PS 6 was current, a company said they accidentally shipped me two copies. When I got home that Halloween night, only one copy was on the porch. A few days later they called and demanded I return the second copy which I hadn't found or known about until they wanted it back. I told them I didn't know anything about it and they said they were going to charge my credit card again regardless. I just called the CC company to block them. A few days later, our UPS driver called and asked if I really hadn't found the second package. In the end, UPS made it good and I vowed to never buy from that company again. I still think some kid probably swiped it as a Halloween prank but it never turned up in the neighborhood.
