I had a trip up to Flagstaff mountain the otherday, it was hazy, partly cloudy and about 4 in the afternoon, so harsh lighting. I used the UWA lens and did not have a filter ring to make use of my Singhray GND. Needless to say I blew out the sky in a lot of shots.

So I thought I would take a baseline raw file that looked good, and make a couple different adjusted saved tiffs then have photoshop HDR them together.

Is this about the same as setting your camera to auto exposure bracketing?

Give it a try and see if you like the result. It's a method called Pseudo-HDR. Auto Exposure bracketing will capture more data, so it's not the same but very similar.

The only time the bottom falls out of this method is when the best single exposure
has areas with clipped highlights or shadows, gone to uniform white or black.
