I'm going to see wigan v pompey this weekend and I would really like to take my 450D & 70-300mm IS.

Does anyone know if there is any restrictions on taking dslrs in the stands? I'm sure i've people with them on tv. Albeit with smaller lenses but then again the 70-300mm IS isn't huge by professional standards.

Thanks

your not allowed to take any camera into any football ground in the UK at any level... however lower leagues dont care.. but premiership clubs can refuse yuo entry or throw you out... depends on wether you get a jobsworth steward...

usualy considered not worth the risk... but others have taken shots.... its a gamble for sure.

I took my old 350d with 18-55 to an Ipswich Town game a couple of years ago. I was told if I had a "little" camera they wouldn't mind, but as I have a "big" camera I'm not allowed. They threatened to chuck me out if I started using it again. Bearing in mind I was near enough top row of North Stand, I could only just make out players at 55mm.

I wouldn't bother, especially with a 70-300. You'll just get in trouble :p

If you want to practise sports photography, don't go to a Premiership match. Look for a local non-league club and then you'll hopefully be able to sit closer to the action and at ground level.
