Hi there,
Try looking at advertised wedding photoraphy on the net to get some ideas? As for lightin try and use fill-flash where needed, never get anybody squinting it looks very ametureish, get a couple of pure white umbrella's (normal size) as props for bride and brides maids, little girl brides-maids look tractive holding these and fill in flash is a must as shadow can accure from the light being blocked form above? Just make sure you look at the background for any ugly items?
I heard a story once that a photographer once did a lod of shots where there was an icecream van in the background and also took shots where you could see parts of lamp posts and street signs.....!!!!!!!!!
Don't rush but don't be too slow either. When i used to do weddings i used to do the big main group shot, reason for that was to eliminate the boredom and complaints from people saying things,..." i wish he'd get a move on" or "do you need us we'd like to go", this puts alot of pressure on you, all it is is to eliminate those who arn't needed for the main family shots, you just need to use some simple common sense. One last thing, don't over use soft focus filters either, i have seen this done once on every shot and after a while you'd think that they were out of focus.
Good luck anyway, i hope i havn't bored you too much?????

Thanks for the advice. I'm really interested in a book or resource on posing though. I have done a couple of weddings and lots of family portraits. I'd just like to learn more of the technical aspects of poses and which ones work for particular situations, subjects etc.
