My vote would be for the calumet genesis or the elinchrom d-lite kits both are great setups use the elinchrom mount and will let you build into a system that can take you as far as you want to go. You can go from intro monolights to pro mono's or pack head systems without needing to replace your modifiers.

I agree with Damian. Both those are economical with many features and room to grow with into the pro Elinchrom lineup. The Genesis are less expensive than Alien Bees or the D-lites, while the D-lites have better power controls and are more consistent with light output.

Can a portable power supply such as the Vagabond work with the Genesis lights?

There are a lot of packages of great deals out there and it all comes down to your budget, Alienbees/White lightning, Bowens, Calumet (travelites and genesis), Elinchrom (D-lites, BXri) are great options :)

Hi,
I am awaiting a pair of Elinchrom d-lites, I saw mentioned that both the Calumet genesis and the Elinchrom use the same mount for accessories? Is this true? I was just wondering as i believe the Calumet softboxes are cheaper then the elinchrom?
Also when i was deciding on what to buy, i phoned Calumet and the sales guy there said that ALL studio flash used a universal mount. Obviously this isn't the case then?
