I just tried to open a RAW image from my 20D using PS7.
Does anyone know of an available plugin?
Does this mean I have to upgrade to CS?
Will images suffer much or be limited by converting the RAW to JPGs or TIF then editing w/PS7 instead of editing the RAW?

Sorry for so many questions.

Don't know of a PS7 plugin. If you convert to TIFF you will get big files but all the information. If you convert to JPG, smaller files with some degradation. Just choose the highest quality you can (largest jpeg file) and you won't loose much provided you've the adjustments well when converting from RAW. Do a search across the forums and you'll find a lot of discussion. Do a Google search and you'll find tutorials and quite a variety of opinions!

Go to the Adobe website and look for the plugin's. It's quite likely they have what you need.

Here's the PS download page. I don't see any of the Adobe Camera Raw versions listed for PS 7:

The Camera Raw plugin for PS 7 was pulled by Adobe after they released CS. It is no longer available. You will have to upgrade to CS or buy Elements 3 in order to convert RAW with photoshop. Lots of folks here are using the free RawShooter. Might want to give it a try...

Your camera was shipped with Digital Photo Professional which does a dandy job of converting the raw files. There's an update to the latest version available on Canon's web site. I would suspect you have to have an installed version to use the update.

Thanks everyone!

RawShooter sounds good to try. I purchased the CameraRaw plugin back in 2003 but looks like Adobe doesn't support upgrades for CameraRaw v1.0
Oh Well...

That's right, you can't update the original Camera Raw that worked with Photoshop 7.0. Adobe wants you to upgrade to Photoshop CS instead.

Now they're going to pull the same trick again: Photoshop CS2 comes with Camera Raw 3.0, and if you want it you have to upgrade to CS2. No more updates of Camera Raw 2.x for the original CS...... :(

I haven't tried it yet and I suspect Adobe wouldn't want you to, but you might try donwloading the updates to PS CS and pulling the ACR plug in off there. PS 7.0 shouldn't care whether the plug in is only for CS version or not. and the file can be moved around fairly easily (just make sure to keep your old one in a separate directory (or renamed) until confident the new one works or not).

If for some reason I need to use my old computer for photos that is one of the first things I would try as I can't load PS CS on it (Win98SE).

Just a thought, not sure if okay to do or not, youz takes youzz chances.
