I'm seeing some fabulous photos of bird in the Ottawa area. So, where does one go to get those great shots? What are some of the favourite places to photograph birds?

Stephanie, there are too many good sites in Ottawa to list all here, but see lthe link I provided below for a comprehensive list compiled by Larry Neily. Under the Table of Contents check out the "Site Guide".

From Embrun the best site for you may be the Mer Bleue Bog and associate trails. Easy access from the 417 (Anderson Rd exit). Other good sites in and around Ottawa include Petrie Island, Mud Lake (aka Britannia Conservation Area), the areas south of the airport, Shirley's Bay. In the winter time there are some bird feeders maintained by the OFNC that attract the regulars and other "winter finches".

Good luck!

You're welcome...and thanks for taking a peek at my website. As you may have already guessed, most of the pictures in there are from the Ottawa area (85% +) so as you can see there is no shortage of subjects to be found here :-)

Hi Stephanie! There's also lot 's of good 'birding' spots not too far outside of Ottawa. There's many 'Osprey' nests in Merrickville, along the Rideau River. If you want to go for a drive there's many different species around the 'Opinicon' (along the Rideau River getting closer to Kingston) Good Luck!
