Alan, i didn't want to hi-jack your thread on wild rabbits, excellent though they are and i know how tricky they can be to get close to in the wild!, but it reminded me of these 2 rabbits i snapped last year.

Rabbit 1 was in a group which i crept up on and startled just as i pressed the shutter. ( don't know why the colours look so saturated, but like the dew on the ground looks nice )

Rabbit 2 was so determined to carry on eating it let me get very close. ( you can just see my reflection in it's eye ).

Both rabbits were WILD and captured with Canon 10d + 100-400mm lens. Rabbit 1 no editting except for resizeing for web. Rabbit 2 minor cropping to remove distracting clutter +resise for web.

comment's welcome

Could be that the rabbit was suffering from myximwhatsitthingy - when they are in the early stages they lose all concept of danger. I've been out hunting with hawks and have seen rabbits just sit and watch the hawk come and get them.

Alan, it just takes a lot of sitting very still in hedge-rows ( almost to much for my likeing ). i was out trying to photograph red kites, but this was all i managed.

Dewmuw, rabbit 2 was not suffering from myxomatosis, i think because it young it was more interested in the lush grass and did not see me as a threat? i was on my knees and moving very slow. i managed two shot's and then it was off like a rocket!!!! the rabbit colony in the area where this shot was taken are extremly healthy and numerous.
