So my sister just had twins, one of them is sleeping so i could only take pictures of one of them. These photos are practice pictures and was just wanting to get some suggestions, comments and all that about if i had hit the lighting right or not. My sister wants me to do a photoshoot with the twins and her and her husband on memorial day and this photoshoot will be out side and ill also like some suggestions for that too, thanks!

P.S. Dont worry, i want your full thoughts, go ahead and be harsh if it needs to be.

Outside? Stay in the shade and use that 430EX II in high speed sync for fill light. I use -2/3 to -1 stop flash exposure compensation.

Thanks for the help.. so i only have cheap cactus V2's for the off camera flash. Im a bit confused when you say I use-2/3 to -1 stop flash exposure compensation.

I'd mount the 430EX on the camera's hot shoe. I'm not familiar with the XTi's menu layout, but on my camera (also a Rebel), the flash exposure compensation is in one of the menus. Set the compensation a couple of tics to the left. This will give you just enough flash to lighten shadows but not so much as to be obvious. Also, high speed sync is set on the flash itself. This allows you to use flash with a shutter speed higher than the camera's normal sync speed.

Any more questions, I'll be happy to help. I'll be near the computer all day.:)

I'll check dpreview.com to find where the flash setting are in the menu.

Flash compensation is the second item on the second menu from the left but visible only in the creative modes - TV, P, M, Av.

Sorry, I'm not up on off camera lighting and umbrellas. I'll have to leave that to someone else to answer.
