i will start from the start last week i got a canon A1000is and i could not get the software drivers to install on my computer when i down loaded the CD. I tried re down loading the software but i never could get it to work on my computer. the software is on the computer but when i hook the camera up it said new hardware found and ask for the CD again so i can put the CD in but it just don't work and the best that i can tell from my little knowledge is the drivers didn't install. last night was was on the phone with a canon tech support guy for over a hour and we could never get the software to find the camera. so today i had a brain storm and took the A1000 back to wal-mart and got my money back and then i went to a local camera store and got the SD880is the girl the the CD in a computer at the store and hooked the camera up and everything worked fine. when i got home i deleted the software for the A1000IS and installed THE SD880IS CD and now i have the same trouble the computer fines the new hardware when i plug the camera in but nothing works beyond that. i don't have any idea what to do and i am not all that good at trouble shooting the software issue i mean even the canon rep could get it going. this is the first time that i have had trouble down loading any thing on this computer. help help :( i have windows XP with sp3

Do you have any other scanners/cameras installed?
What other USB devices are you using on the computer?
Have you tried different USB ports?
Are you connecting through a USB hub or directly to the computer?
Are you using Canon's cable or one you already had?
Do you have a card reader, and can you use ZoomBrowser on pictures, just not download?
And try using shorter sentences which you start with capital letters. It makes your posts easier to read when you take a breath every so often. Paragraphs are a big help, too.

i can put the memory chip in the computer and the pictures down load fine. I don't have a separate card reader but the card works fine in the computer reader. This is all new to me so please have a little Patience with me.
