I just got my new 70-20 2.8L IS this week. based on what the forum reccommended I paid $1645.00 from Beach Camera-excellent service) and took it to the Wildlife Park to try it out. I was amazed at the sharpness! Thanks for the great advice. I will post some shots in the nature/wildlif threads as soon as I figure out how you do it.Oh yeah, thanks for the expensive addiction.

This is sharp and the lens is often regarded as the sharpest zoom lens ever in camera history.

I've heard that quote for the 70-200 f4, 70-200 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 IS..... which one is it then??? ahhh..... I don't care... I think the three of them are just amazing lenses :)

Some say the F4 is the sharpest of the bunch

Yeah, but that's mostly the people who own the f/4 saying that.
Like a wise man once told me, the f/4 may prove to be a hair sharper in a lab, on a tripod and with mirror lockup, but most of the time I am not shooting in a lab or on a tripod, so the IS as well as the extra stop could make all the difference between a sharp shot and a blurred shot.
All three are great lenses, but I'm not giving up my 70-200/2.8L IS anytime soon.

And I would rather have the 70-200/2.8L IS --- Can I borrow yours? Kids have a dance recital and f4 didn't cut it last year.
