I am still trying to get the hang of this lens...well shoot, I am still trying to get the hang of photography in general. I messed around with ISO and some other features while playing around...and I haven't quite got it yet. I really want to take a class or something. I love some of the b&w ones, but they are so OOF. It is a shame because her expressions are priceless! Any thoughts?

What are your shutter speeds. i feel your softness isnt focus persay (it may have alot to do with it) But your shutter speed compared to the aperture factor and ISO. How do you shoot?

Love your first and second to last shot.

Just work on the bascis for now, especially when photographing kids.

Try to keep your shutter speed above 125, only changing your ISO to achieve that number or better. Use shutter priority (TV). Also, use your flash outside for fill, in TV mode your camera should handle the fill automatically.

Rule of thirds, try not to center your subjects, off center them a little, see below.

and most of all, you have a good eye, keep it up!

Here is a favorite I like to do with kids. When your little girl is walking away from you, get your camera ready to shoot, then holler for her and capture the moment she turns around to see you.
