Hello All from a newbie,

I’ve been very happy with my Canon S45 and S50,(and just today ordred an S60) my question regards video mode.

I frequently shoot video clips and display them for friends on my big screen home TV.

When done, I download the stills and video images to my Windows XP PC and delete all images from the CF card.

Alas, the video clips that now exist only on the PC can no longer be view on the TV!

I’ve tried using my CF card reader and can easily drag and drop the video clips back into the camera, but, now the camera (and the TV) display “Unidentified Image”.

Does anyone know of a work-a-round for this apparent shortcoming of the S50?

Any help greatly appreciated of course!

IIRC you need to keep the THM files as well as the AVI files to enable camera playback.

Thanks for your reply, closer now, but still no go.

I now have the .THM files as well.

With the CF card in a reader and viewing with Explorer I see the following directory info:

CANON_DC(F:)
DCIM
228CANON
MVI_2715.AVI
MVI_2715.THM
CANONMSC
MISC

When I put the CF card back in the camera a get “unidentified image”.

Any suggestions appreciated!

You should have them in \DCIM\227CANON\MVI_2715.AVI and \DCIM\227CANON\MVI_2715.THM, IIRC. The folder number should correspond with the file numbers that way. You may also want to clear out the \CANONMSC directory; that holds assorted odd info, and clearing it may allow you to re-create it correctly.

Failing that, shoot a short movie, and copy your important AVI and THM over it.
