Hey, everyone. I'm new here (though I've lurked for a bit), and as I just added a new gallery to my web site, I figured it was time to post.

http://waylon-art.com/galleries/8/gallery8.html

Everything was shot with a G1, then adjusted in photoshop (most were cropped, and the levels adjusted.)

If anyone has any critiques about anything... I'd certainly love to hear your comments.

Cheers!

Very interesting collection. Not all of the photos work for me from an aesthetic standpoint, but some are quite good. The first photo in your misc. gallery (woman standing on rock) is my favorite, but obviously very different from your other shots. Also really like the big-wheel cart in the factory corridor, the B&W tree and the silhouetted war figures.

The industrial photos I enjoyed most are the ones that are more abstract, such as the rusted beams against the rock wall. I think you are on to something unique and compelling. Thanks for sharing,

I am neither artist or gifted photographer, but I do get a kick from seeing a nice nature shot on my PC screen.

You are an artist .. 2D .. 3D .. and you have posted some wonderful creations. I liked your self portrait. Its color tone and your selected level of detail.

You obviously live near or visit the dead hulks that litter our urban land. To be honest, these images are a bit more scary to me in a Clockwork Orange sort of way. But you do breath life into these ruins with (my favourite) red berries bathing in warm light and grasping for life in otherwise desolate setting.

Like Mitch I love the girl at the ocean. Especially the vertical grain of the suporting rock, and also the color of the sea and clouds. Also, I loved several with mono chromatic "rainbows" birthed in electrical lights of blue and red.

On close, your images are beautiful and authentic. They are a reminder that there is "big time"work ahead to clean up our environment, and in that regard, the nation's treasuse has to be spent with care and across a complex world!

Thanks for the comments! Yes, I'm still trying to develop my own style... I started out taking these pictures for work, to use as reference. For that reason a lot of them, especially earlier ones, have a very static feel to them - I wanted to include all the details, even if that meant I'd have a boring composition. I hope I'm making progress in the right direction.

A couple other interesting comments... The girl on the rock was actually the third picture I ever took with a G1 (I borrowed my dad's camera while on vacation.) Of all the thousands of pictures I've taken since then, it's still my favorite. I'll chalk it up to beginner's luck.

And the red berries, Leighow? I hope this doesn't ruin the picture for you, but then belong to a plant called "Deadly Nightshade". :) Nature may be taking back these ruins, but it's doing a quick and dirty job of it.

WOW!

I looked at your pictures from "Industrial - Milwaukee, Wisconsin" and they are just wonderful!

The scene is spooky, scary and beautiful at the same time. When looking at the picture I get a feeling that you are the first person in that area for hundreds of years. Like in a futuristic computer game, we are coming back to the 1950 or something. Great feeling you create there.

What has all these buildings been used for? What did they "create"? When did the close the "factory"? Why don't they demolish the buildings, lookes kind of dangerous to walk in the area?

Great pictures anyway! Keep shooting, but watch your steps..
