I was hoping to get some input from 1Ds owners which lens they prefered for shooting landscapes. I've read plenty of reviews between the EF 16 & 17 and was hoping to get some 1ds specific accounts.
Thanks in advance,
Billy

When I get my 1Ds I plan to also buy the 35/2 and 24/2.8 prime lenses.

The 16-35mm and 17-40mm L lens are the most popular wide angle lens. As you have a 1Ds, image quality is very important as your wider pixels can show you clearly the sharpness of the lens.
Both of them are great. The major factor in choosing either is how wide aperture you want. If you shoot in low light, 16-35mm f2.8L would give you an advantage.
As you told you make the lens for landscape shooting, wide aperture is not necessary. So I would recommend 17-40mm for the cost is only half of 16-35mm counterparts.
Besides, you may also consider prime lens. They give sharper image than a zoom though you may need to change lens frequently.

Hmmmm, the 14mm f/2.8 could be fun. It's the widests you can get, but at a cost for sure. $1,800 bucks. Since I don't own a 1ds, I'll say no more. :-)
