Has anyone used any old M42 threaded lenses on their EOS camera with an adapter? I am looking to get a bellow for macro and this is the cheapest way to go. I don't use autofocus anyway so if the lenses are any good then it's the way I want to go at this point!!
Thanks

Take a look here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=62616)!
Very nice lens tests, also some macro lenses.
I have used and use some M42 lenses, and getting focus sharp is the only challenge for me.
Best regards,
Andy

I've used 58 f/2 on my rebel. It's hard to focus.
But macro I'd imagine it would be ok.

Yes. It works fine. Everything goes a little slower because you give up some automation, but it works.

As confirmed by the prior posts, yes the M42 mounts will work. I'm currently using an old Yashica bellows. The bellows and two lenses (135 and 50mm) were cheaper than a set of extension tubes.Lots more extension too! Manual focusing is not that easy with the 300d viewfinder, but is possible. you may want to look into picing up the Angle Finder C if you plan on doing a lot of macro work with the old lenses.

Wow... sounds very interesting.
How does it work? Where can I get one? Could u post a pic of your setup? I can't quite imagine bellows on a camera like that.

Tried using a bellows in the field? With a big lens? While trying to track a fast-moving amphibian?

Well... I bought some stuff at the Cincinnati Camera Swap this weekend.... cheap too!!
EOS to M42 adapter $15.00
Bellow $25.00
Vivitar 135mm 2.8 $20.00 (didn't want to pay for the best lenses until I know if I like it)
Played with them a little last night, I think I will like it!!
Pictures to come in a day or two!!
