S30 - Problem

I just bought CANON S30. Everything is fine but just one thing make me feel curious and frustracted.

I download the photot from camera to my home PC. The photos were looking fine in my home PC but when I copy those files to my office PC, the photos became darker. At first, I thought it's my office PC's monitor setting problem but it's seem like every PC in my office having the same result.
Not only that, I asked my friends to try it out in their PC. They told me the photos are dark as well.

How come it can be nice in my home PC? If anyone have the same experience, please tell me what's happen to this.

I'm not an expert on monitors but you would be hard pressed to find two monitors that are set up exactly the same. Also the lighting conditions that the images are viewed in also have an effect on what you see on screen (surprising as it may seem). Have you tried printing out your images to see if they come out dark or if they look alright?

I would have to agree with samtks. I own an s30 and they behave exactly the same way he described. Seems that the LCD brightness is still too bright even when it set up with minimum brightness. I would personally recommend you to view the images at least once in your PC before you pass it to your friends and make necessary brightness/contrast adjust.

As what delphinus said, I adjust the brightness of the photo before I sent out to my friends.
This is really troublesome, because after adjusting, the photos were looking too bright in my home PC.

Just wondering, this problem is happen to S30 only or all others Digital Camera as well.

Hmmm, seems you have a monitor setting problem. Try printing one of your picture result (preferably night scene) and compare the picture printed with the one seen from your monitor. Then try as much as you can to adjust the brightness and contrast in order to match the level on printed picture.

If you got extra cash to spare, you can even buy the monitor calibration equipment (spyder if I'm not wrong) to calibrate your monitor accurately.
