What did you do, it looks as if the picture is color but the background is B&W almost as if you imposed the picture of your son onto an already existing B&W picture. Neat picture though.

Think the c&c is asked about the picture as a whole which incidentally, I quite like.

I would have to agree here too. The subject isnt up for discussion, the picture is. Im not a big fan of selective color. I like the shot, but would like it much better if it were all in color or all in b&w. Cute shot

as for your question, i masked him on the pic and b&w the rest, with contrats extras, and then tweaked his colour a little also. the original is here ...
take care...

Well, I happen to think your son is absolutely adorable and I love his little mohawk!!! As for the picture, I think it might look better in all B&W.

Remember to stick to the topic folks and keep personal opinions of the subject matter out of it. And editorial songs...;)

your son is adorable, love the setting, I dont care for the selective coloring... it certainly has its place, this is not it IMO.

Your 2nd shot, love it in B&W... the first one love the color edit someone did, of course I haven't seen a nice contrasty B&W version of it, I could like that better, I am a B&W fan.

Looks like a beautiful area for a walk while havin a sucker, I like tootsie pop's myself ;)

.... I decided to edit a B&W version... ya... I like your first photo very much in B&W :D

I love it, I love the background too, both in color and in B&W! Also, LOVE the mohawk. My husband and I always said when we have a boy thats what we wanna do!

what program do you use to mask the person and make the background black and white?

in photoshop use the quick selection tool for speed and ease of use. hold shift key while selecting, wich allows you to select different areas... and erase any extra by holding the alt key and drawing to the subject outlines.
select feather to soften edge and then convert to black and white ( you may need to select inverse first). adjust contrasts and colours as needed, and i tweeked the eyes etc a little bit.
