I've seen the bonsai kittens but never a bonsai child. Neat photo. Looks very good and a very cute child.

Good candid, but I'd kill off that pink distraction. What did you crop out? --presuming the pic was originally 3:2.

A good pic. The dust on the glass is not good.

I like the dirty glass. I'd also mute the pink/blue thing in the background. I'd also crop both the top and bottoms to not see above and below the brick opening.
I think this would shine in B&W.

Before there was Photoshop, about all you could do was burn, dodge and crop. Candids are just that, candid and in my opinion they are just fine being unmanipulated. What happened to real photography? Very nice shot and thanks for sharing.

Because we are artists. And we use all tools available to achieve the end-result we are striving for. There is nothing wrong with candid photography. Nothing at all. To ignore the tools we have before us in the name of The-Old-Days is ludicrous. And there is also nothing wrong with "raw" you-get-what-you-shoot photography either.

Ziliao: Either way, I love this shot. Great idea and this works very well. Nice eye.
I hope you don't mind this quick Photoshop edit...Just an idea, since you asked for input:

I think you are right. There is a place for both, thanks for making that point :D

Forgive my intrusion.... I love the discussion here as this is an awsome shot. I wanted to see what would happen if we went half as far as RFM went and just toned down the colors. I also removed one spot that was buggung me for some odd reason. I love the smudge marks on the glass as that just screams little kids - where ever they are - little fingermarks can also be found. For what it is worth I attached my very quick edit.... what a great shot to work with.

quick update - my wife likes the white spot gone but scolded me for reducing the color.... so there you go. Oh well.......
