I am just getting started with ee and have a question about the names of each file. After I create my directories (i.e. thumbs, medium and large) and upload my resized pictures to each directory, does the filename have to be identical in each directory?

Is there a summary of workflow for uploading and creating directories? I have searched this list and reviewed the faq and materials, but haven't had any luck getting the big picture of the steps to create a gallery.

All comments will be appreciated!

Thanks!

Yes, the name has to be identical since the program is looking for the same/matching file in different path for each picture.

Maybe this will be helpful: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6815

I think you will find that many people are using photoshop or other types of programs to run actions, or macros which automatically tweak the shots, resize them to whatever size and then puts them into corresponding directories all at once.

I like to tweak my shots one at a time so I created a simple action in photoshop which resizes each shot I open to 3 or 4 different sizes/quality and the action puts them into their own directory. So if I have an image called "fish.jpg", it'll create 3 different "fish.jpg" files (each with different size and quality) and places each file is in its own directory like ../thumb, ../microthumb, or ../medium.
