Wow! Where were you? They are all amazing...my fav is the first pic even though the bird is not
the most beautiful, your pic of it is so detailed ( the fuzz of feathers on its head), it makes it cute!

thanks people, much appreciated!

I was at Groombridge Place, near tunbridge wells(the uk for you non uk types) The Raptor Centre there has these birds, they are on little perches in a quiet place, i got up nice and close for these shots. Very pleased with them indeed.

Great shots! http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze2hdzu/pics/omg.gif

Did you shoot RAW?
Almost all of them look like they could use a touch of exposure compensation.. just a tad dark.
I think these are top notch images fro just out of the camera,. but I'd love to see what you'd get with some addition tweeking ;)

All jpeg, i havent progressed to RAW yet, i know they are all a tad under exposed, i have been getting shots that have been over-exposed too often, so err on the side of caution now

thank you all very much for the kind words, its very encouraging, ive posted these shots on another forum i go on and only got 2 replies, so i suppose you cant make everyone happy!

Really nice sharp captures. Did you go to a falconary, or rescued bird shoot? I've been to a few state events in Maryland there rescued birds have been brought by rangers for photo opportunities. The nice thing I have to say about these events that the birds are placed in their natural surroundings. The shooting fee of about $10 helps continue the rescue efforts.

Gratulations on some good work.

thanks for the kind words, i am VERY pleased and proud of these shots, by far the best i have taken, i uploaded a few more to my gallery...

www.talkphotography.co.uk/gallery

The place is a country house in the UK, the Raptor Centre own a cottage there and the chap does displays 3 times a day if its not raining, the birds can be found by the cottage during the day, so i took the opportunity to snap them! I think i will put the shots on a cd and give them to him, he can do what he wants with them then, he might be able to make a bit of cash for his rescue projects then.

Really nice ... fantastic to see captive birds in such outstanding condition. They look even better on this forum ... maybe there is less image compression here. I have a Raptor Centre within 30 minutes drive so maybe I'll head there this weekend. My favourite bird is the Kestrel but never managed to get a good shot yet :)

I know this is a two-year old thread but for anyone who wants to take pictures of wild birds of prey, this place lets you get within two feet of them. They are always sitting outside this little cottage in Groombridge and the owners usually rotate the birds so there is always something different
