View Full Version : Another self portrait (same series)

Here is another of the same series as last one. Natural light by the window, worked on Photoshop (I deleted the strip of my blouse), turned there into B&W, I have no original (LOL)... Different composition....

The camera was too close (maybe I am a bit distorted again), I haven't done the putting away the camera and zoom with the lens though, but I'll work on that this week, I think.

Comments?

As good as the last one IMHO. I like the previous pose however! Nice.

Very Nice Fer:) I have liked all of your self portraits.
I don't know what the color one looked like but the B&W is nice

I prefer the B&W better, but the color one was ok.

You have a very beautiful face. The shot was good however there was one thing missing - A SMILE! You have a gorgeous smile and should show it off more often.

Another vote for a smile! I think someone is wanting to try some nude shots. LOL. :p

Fer,
nice portrait. However right cheek seems to be burnt out a bit/overexposed to me or may be its my monitor as nobody else mentioned it.

i love the shot. i would suggest tilting your head up though as you seem to have a fuller lip on the bottom and a thinner one on the top, and tilting your head back slightly would help even them out. sorry for being picky, but you did ask...lol :) pretty face, would love to see your smile. just looked again, and i agree with the blown out comment (left side of the picture too bright)..

Went back to look @ previous picture – moved your hand – good advise on the strap – tilted your head forward - exceptional – difference of lighting fore ground to back lightening again distinctive – GREAT!

Waiting for you to ask us a question? Especially like your tilted expression – “…I asked the question why haven't they answered? And the faint wispiest - earrings and tempting lips beckons….

Sorry, Molto Bello

Good job, self portraits are hard, but you made it look easy.

Yes, I agree... It's overexposed there.

I agree... They are hard, but I am trying to get use to it. I am having fun and I see it like a challenge, if my next pic turns out aweful, means I am not improving (with lighting, technique, etc)

Hey Fer I just wanted to ask you for some advise. I just created a thread on this but once I saw your (very well done) portrait I had to ask. I'm having trouble taking portrait pics of my girlfriend do to perspective distortion (I think). Things like her long nose/high cheekbones just look different in the pics. I'm new to photography and don't know much....just bought a G6 and wondering if a Tele-converter would help. Do you have any advice for me...maybe lighting, perspective, photoshop...
I hope I'm not being a burden...I realy liked your pic so I had to ask for some pointers.

Oh wow, that is a compliment!... Well, I am no pro here... What I did was putting the camera on the tripoid, about 1 meter away from me, then I put myself next to the window. I shot with the kit lens and someone told me (in my previous self portrait) that the camera was too close and that it distorted my nose, so he told me to put it a little bit away and zoom in... I hope it helps, lemme know, ok?

Stepping away and zooming in most definetly helps, but I guess not enough in my case...maybe my Gfriend just isn't photogenic (I'm starting to understand that I know nothing about this word). Well I don't know much about portrait photography but I sure like yours.
Well best of luck to both of us in achieving great portraits ;) .

Thanks for the comments on my photo :D
