I love macro photography, I've been using extension tubes and cheap lenses for years, I have seen so many excellent macro pics on this forum (your shots have pushed me over the edge) that I've decided to go get that canon 100mm macro. I'm recently retired and have time to play, like someone said in another forum "you regret the purchase for about 2 seconds, but you regret not making the purchase every minute until you do" or something like that. Sorry I babble...

Go for it Paul. You will not regret it.
I hope to see some of your shots in this forum soon.

Great shots. I am looking forward to some sunny weather here to give my new 100mm a good work out.

Thanx for the positive replies guys!
Here are two other pictures i took that same day.
I'm thinking of buying an extension tube to get even closer.
Do any of you have experience with those? How will they affect image quality for instance?

Very Nice.
I'm guessing those are cropped a bit? Didn't think a 100mm can get so close. Maybe the 180.

Keep up the good work

They are crops indeed. That's one of the advantages of the 20D i think. But you can get pretty close. Look at this photograph for instance:

Dannes,

I've just gotten my 20D and also love Macro photography. I see that you've got EF 100/2.8 Macro listed and I'm assuming you used this for the fly shots (which are very good, by the way). I want to be able to get close like you have here. Is that what you used??

Thanks!

Flys sure are ugly looking from close up, especially the eyes.
