Paid a visit to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre today to see 'Just Jane'. Early morning weather was good but it didn't last. Here's a few shots:

Don't know if it's the lighting, or what, but number one is gorgeous!

No this Lanc is not airworthy unfortunately. It just taxii's up and down the airfield. But I believe the brothers who own it are looking to get it airborne.

Very nice shots of a beautiful aircraft. They don't make 'em like that any more!
So what's keeping her on terra firma?

They are a real sight, 4 RR Merlin engines all wound up would sound the business. Remember first time I heard a spitfire it gave me goosebumps!! Good to see these big ladies are being preserved even if it is only for taxi runs.
The shot with the 4 props running reminds me of the boys on their way to take off for Berlin or something...kind of a powerful image.

So what's keeping her on terra firma?
Basically the cost of making her airworthy and all that comes afterwards. Maintenance, running costs, new EU regulations that are temporary grounding the B-17's (increase of insurance costs) plus fears of losing their star attraction to the airshow curcuit which won't help income for the museum.

Normally Wednesdays and weekends during the summer months I think. Twice per day.
Another shot returning from it's first taxi run of the day:

Isn't it sad that aircraft that were meant to fly, and did, are being kept on the ground by insurance companies?
Your photos are very nice. I would love to see this aircraft in person!
I have a series from the B series of a group in Ma that flew into St.L...
