Scary scary..50mm f/1.0? 400mm f/4? Sounds like Pentax was reading a Canon user's wishlist ;)

But seriously, a 50mm f/1.0...if they actually do it....they'd be the second to do so after Canon..and if its Pentax I bet you its not going to be OMGWTFBBQ expensive [Pentax really isnt expensive comparatively]

and a 400mm f/4...Wow...

If you look at the current roadmap, it has blank slots in the future section listing a 645 DA Ultrawide [the 25mm mentioned in the article would be this] and a DA Super Telephoto [Which the 400mm f/4 would qualify as]

So who here thinks Pentax is finally going "We're not going to take it anymore" and wants to at least kick Sony in the face? the K-7 and these possible lenses definately pose a threat to even Nikon/Canon..

And on a side note, I bet the 135mm f/2.8 is going to be fantastic as well :)

I always loved Pentax in the film days, but their digital offerings along with their lenses leave me wanting. I am all for increased competition to light a fire under Canon, but I don't see Pentax developing and making available a competitive system in the near future. I hope they do, even if it only brings people in from the P&S crowd it will push Canon to rethink available features in their model lines. I would love some of the weather sealing and AF systems from the 1D series in an XXD format. I have no need for a large professional body, but I do want the features in the size and weight of the XXD line and APS-C format.

See I dont mind a 1D-class body, my thing is more i also happen to love the 1.6x FOVCF...and I'm scared going to a 1.3x is going to make me sad...

But at the same time i want the advance and the AF from them...Badly...

Wouldn't mind seeing more competition. Definitely like the Limited lenses so looking forward to seeing what the 135mm limited will be like.

at least on the 1.0 it was pretty much determined that it was shopped... no 'leak there'

from what I understand however the DA* 400 f/4 is on the table however. It's in one of their discussion threads.

Don't get me wrong, in the proper circumstances I would be all over a 1D camera. The things I like about it are dedicated processor for AF, AF structure, weather sealing, build, VF, speed and customizability.

I realize I am probably in the minority, but I love the APS-C format, and I like the ability to CHOOSE whether a grip is used or not. The main camera I use is what I feel is the best camera out there in its format, which is why I chose it. However, I'd still like to see improvements in the above areas while retaining its format and size.

I am not a pro nor do I aspire to be one, but that doesn't preclude me from wanting pro features without having to hang a small car from my neck. I'd still be willing to pay the premium, I just want it in a different format and size. Likewise, I'd like a 5D type camera with the same features too, so I could have the XXD(L) for sports/wildlife/versatility and a FF XD(L) for landscape/portrait/UWA. I just want the build to be better with more customizations.

I would hope that pentax 50mm f1 would become a reality. I am a fan of the brand myself but it is not possible for pentax to produce a lens like that.

400mm f4 is going to cost too much if DA* 300mm f4 is going to cost more than 1400 US dollars...

Well a 400mm f/4..the only 400 f/4 is Canon's 400mm f/4 DO IS which is a DO lens, and its over $5000...i bet the Pentax will be more affordable..

Also interesting to see how much it weighs..

I love Pentax gear; but they won't pose a threat to Nikon/Canon unless the K-7 focusses more quickly in low-light than the K10/K20D did.

True, Pentax's AF is supposedly a little touchy isnt it?

But i heard the K-7 has a new AF system thats optimized for the new SDM lenses...so perhaps it is improved at least a bit?

At the very least who here thinks they can knock Sony down a peg or two...
