View Full Version : Buying from B&H outside the US; Rebate Question

As the Aussie dollar is slowly creeping back toward US$0.80, buying from B&H is once again looking like a viable option (I'm kicking myself I never did it back when the dollar was as the dizzying US$0.98 mark!).
I note that there is an 'instant rebate' on the 100-400L...I've never bought anything with the rebate before, so my questions are;
Are international buyers eligible for the rebate?
It's listed as 'instant'...so would the upfront cost be the normal cost minus the rebate? Or do you front the normal cost then send in (or take some other action) to get the rebate?
Any non-US types have any experience with this?

Instant rebates, in my experience, is reflected at checkout - original cost minus the rebate at checkout. Mail-in rebates - pay total cost upfront and receive rebate check/credit in mail.
As for international sales, I'm uncertain. But, B&H is good about answering such questions over the phone or email. You may even try a PM to Henry Posner (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/member.php?u=17695) of B&H. I'm quite certain he'll return your queries.

I considered jumping on the Sandisk pack of 3x4GB cards or 5x2GB cards from B&H when they were (not sure if they still are) cheap but it turns out they were a mail-in rebate so there was no chance of it happening unfortunately! Changed to AUD, both packs were around $80 which is only $10 more than what I bought both my 4GB cards for locally.

The strengthening Canadian dollar also brought B&H back in to the picture for making some photo related purchases. The instant rebates, as was noted above, are available to everyone and are applied when they're added to your cart (as you will see). If they're mail in rebates then they're likely U.S. only and you won't be eligible for them. Shame really, Sandisk has some nice rebates that I'd like to take advantage of.
