I'm looking for a backpack that is big enough for my 300D, lenses and my laptop. can anyone recommend any bags fitting this description?

Tamrac makes a few nice ones:

And Lowepro has a couple of CompuTrekkers.

I have a Lowepro Micro Trekker 100 and 200. Both are nice bags and very compact, but cannot accomodate a full size notebook.

I just picked up the LowePro CompuTrekker Plus and it is a sweet bag. The regular CompuTrekker should fit your requirements perfectly. Remember, always buy a bag larger than your current needs as lenses tend to multiply and thus bags tend to shrink.

I have the Crumpler Puppet with 300D, kit, 70-300, nifty fifty, flash plus some extra kit, and can fit a laptop as well.
Its a UK crumpler design but I got it from B&H.
