Hello, I took this today with my 1000d, aperture priority, kit lens, I improved things like the shadows and highlights in photoshop, unsharp mask etc. Please let me know what you think.

I love to photograph flowers in the garden. I have so many that look just like this. After a while I start asking myself why and what am I possibly going to do with them.

So I'll ask you, maybe you know. What are you wanting to do with this? I mean is the goal to hang on the wall? To share with friends online and to show off your gardening skills? Or are you just compleled to take pictures of these willing, beautiful subjects?

Ok, now to your question, what I think. Its ok, a little overexposed but that is hard to avoid in direct sunlight. try shooting in the evening or on a cloudy day. Flowers look great in bright sun but photograph better otherwise. Also try different angles, one that most people don't view from. I mean everybody is used to seeing flowers from the top down, try getting lower and shooting level or even from below and shooting up. Also try getting closer, you don't need a macro lens to get in close for some great detail, sometimes this type can be done in bright sun, try using a difusser or a reflector to even out the harsh lighting.

I am about to post a request for critique on a flower shot from this past weekend, check it out. I am not where I want to be yet but making progress.

Thanks for the advice, it was very bright when i took it. My main purpose was probably to frame it, I love to see the results of my photography printed, but i'm still learning. I only got my 1000d a few months ago, for years I just used compacts.
