I'm still learning, but took this picture earlier today on a whim. I played with it a bit in photoshop, but it just doesn't seem right to me. I can't seem to lighten the redness in his face without altering the saturation of the entire photo. The first one is the original, the second is post photoshop. I was using my Speedlite 430EX I'm using Elements 6.0. (Which I fully intend on replacing when I come across something affordable, when I have the disposable income.) Any advice is welcome.

The lighting is flat and harsh. Try bouncing the flash off the ceiling or something. To selectively reduce the red, add a layer mask to your hue/saturation adjustment layer.
