Best way to carry

I have a 20D with the kit lens.
What is the best way to hold your 20D with the lens attached in a Talle or any Crumpler bag? I currently have my 20D with lens attached stored in my Talle with the lens facing the right side. Will it be better to have the lens facing down? With lens detached?

Will the 20D and lens be damaged if it's not stored a specific way?

If they are on their own in there and not rattling around they will be fine either laying down or standing up. Most people travel with a lens mounted on the camera as its convenient for taking photos. It may be a bad idea if you were to sit on the bag or something but in normal use it'll be just fine.

The camera and lens would be more at risk of getting dusty from constantly taking the lens on and off and you'd be risking missing some photo opportunities as you try and remove the extra caps.
