flash extender for 430 EX II

who makes a good flash extender for a 430 EX II ?

this would be for my xsi with 430 ex II for birding.

When I look on B&H there is only one company listed and that is visual echoes.


as I dont know anything about them , I had a hard time finding them on B&H because I did not even know what they are called any help would be great.

Here are plans for a fabricated flash extender. I bought the fresnel lens but never got around to making the darn unit. Too lazy! I do not remember who sent me these plans so I cannot give dredit. Sorry!

I just received the exact Visual Echoes flash extender from B&H for my 430EX is afternoon. The build quality was not quiet what I was hoping for, basically a couple of pieces of plastic side walls and a plastic lens (sorry for the poor quality photos, taken with my webcam). The two sidewalls fit the side of the flashhead and are secured with a velcro strap. The lens then attaches to the ends of the sidewalls, also with velcro. I haven't had a chance to try it out on any birds yet, but I did fire up a few test flashes with it attached to my 430EX and the good news is it was producing a nice concentrated beam of light with each flash.
