Being in cities about 2 or 3 hours away from one another, we rarely get to see one another anymore since we're in college. We've been good friends for about 9 years or so now (since 7th grade or so). Anyway, this past weekend we found that we were both going to be back in our home town for a day, so she wanted to get together for a little while. While there, I met her new boyfriend, and her cousin who I had only talked to on the internet and phone, but never met in person. She had been wanting to see my 20D for a while, so I pulled it out, and a short photo session endured :)

Here's a few shots I got that I thought turned out pretty well. It was kinda cool and windy outside, and the sun wasn't too forgiving.

My friend in the middle, her boyfriend and cousin on either side:

Her cousin (she loves that shirt, but I don't find it to be too flattering, since it gets caught in the wind quite often and puffs up:

And Kim (the cousin) wanted to take some more pictures afterwards, and wanted to model my car for me :D:

All taken with my 20D and Sigma 500 DG Super flash. First 2 with my 50mm f/1.8 and 3rd with my Sigma 28-80mm.

thanks :)
#2 was my favorite of all of the ones I took. the 3rd one I realize her face could be sharper, but it was just a fun shot to take, and wasn't too planned. We were back inside talking, and she was like "let's go take more pictures!!" and pulled me outside, ran over to my car and started posing

do you have a 100% crop of the 28-80? also which one is it? I haven't seen it. only thing i can find is 28-70mm 2.8 EX DG. thanks. the pictures look good.

The picture with her and my car is the one that was taken with the Sigma 28-80mm.

Here's the picture directly out of the camera:

If I remember correctly, I think I accidentally focused down on her hands in that one (I had taken a few shots previously vertically and used the lower AF point and hadn't changed it back)

Background in #2 is perfect. Nice shot.

thank you. I like that lens, might look into getting one. just haven't found it. do you have a link to the specs?

yeah, it's a pretty decent lens. I might actually suggest you look into the Tamron 28-75mm lens, though, although it's quite a bit more expensive. This Sigma lens usually is fairly low on cost, because it usually comes in a kit, and it's not one of the sharpest out there. I got my 20D in a kit with this lens and a Sigma 100-300mm. The 100-300mm lens is nice and sharp, I like it (of course, you need a tripod at the longer end).

I also actually had issues with mine focusing properly when I first got it. I got my 20D back in early October, so I did the first firmware update Canon put out for it and it seemed to miraculously clear up my problems for the most part.

Anyhow, here's a link to it on Adorama, so you can see the cheap price and the general specs of it:

ok, yeah I thought it was a constant 2.8 like the 24-70 that's why I didn't see it. but still looks good. great work.

yeah, unfortunately I don't have any zooms with a constant f number yet... one day, though :)

thanks
