I just purchased this camera yesterday. I charged the battery until green lights on charger. Played around with the camera--looked at menus, settings, zoom, too a couple of pictues and erased them, etc. Probably used camera for no more than 1 hour last night. Turned it off with battery still in camera. Turned it on this morning and took another picture--maybe had it on for no more than 15 minutes. When I turned it on again tonight, I got the low battery symbol. So I am recharging the battery. I can't believe this is normal as I hardly used the camera. Anyone have these problems?

Hi Bigmamma,

I've read some other postings in which users have said they needed to charge their batteries a few times before it would take a 'full' charge and operate normally. I don't know if this applies to you but it seems to be a popular problem users are having. Are they Nickel Metal Hydrate or NiMH (short version) and do you know their power rating (anything from 1600mah to 1800mah). I would take the batteries out overnight and they tend not to work too well in cold places. Also make sure the contacts are clean and don't have any cracks or openings.

That's normal. In the beginning I could take 20 pix with mine. After 5 cycles I am now up to 180 pix with flash all.
So be patient. Completely discharge your battery and then load it. I'll work

I have had the same experience, the battery will get better, I took 40 pics the first day, and 144 pics 2 days later. Also, the manual explains how the initial battery charge charges the camera's internal battery.
