View Full Version : House Wrens - new visitors to the balcony

I had some new visitors to the 3rd floor balcony... a pair of House Wrens, who, I think, are nesting in my neighbor's rain pipe. Over the weekend I saw them flittering around the branches carrying material and hunting bugs. At one point one of them was on my balcony's door matt!

I had surgery on Friday, so my shoulder is out of commission. It was not easy trying to get these shots - the camera weighed a ton, I can't really move my right arm like usual, and I was all shakey leaning over the balcony wall. It took a gazillion pics just to get 5 or 6 that were in focus and not completely blocked by branches. Even so, I think these turned out pretty cute.

Altogether there were 3 new species who visited this weekend, and I just couldn't resist trying to get their pictures. ;-)

Take care of yourself first and let that shoulder heal. There will be lot's more photo ops (remember, they come right to you). Besides, taking pictures and pain killers at the same time is not always a good idea :) :)

Hope you get feeling better soon. Just let that shoulder rest. Any particular spot you can set your camera up pn tripod? Just remember the birds will still be around then you get better and though there may be some opportunities missed, some more will come along.

OK, these shots, are surely worth the posting, because they are very good and capture the petite nature of these precious little wrens.

GET BETTER SOON

It took a gazillion pics just to get 5 or 6 that were in focus and not completely blocked by branches. That's the "secret" of pro photography - take 1,000. Show 1! :D:D:D

There is nothing wrong with my shoulder and I have not been able to get such good shots of the wrens that visit the garden every day! Great shots, but look after your shoulder.

Great shots, LazyP! Maybe you should injure your shoulder more often?! :) Seriously, good work both here and on your web site.

I wouldn't call someone with a bad shoulder who takes a gazillion pics lazy!
Great work despite your condition! Regards to San Diego (my hometown) from Japan.

Very nice, LP ... especially the second (the background is perfect ... and the branch texture is cool)!
