A wide angle 50mm Prime shot south of Cassiopeia taken from the UK

Andromeda was too low for me in my garden due to the trees, so managed to get this wide angle shot of that area of the sky.

Looks like I may have got some glow from somewhere, bottom left, not sure where that came from. According to Stellarium it could be from the edge of the Milkyway or the double Clusters close by. Though not convinced due to the size. But I might have dragged colour out of the stacks :)

19 x 15 second subs stacked and played with in PS.

Having real problems with lens over 180mm due to star trails with anything more than about 5 seconds.

Really need to get a mount with tracking.. Anyone selling one :)

That's a pretty picture - I'd say the orange bit is a cloud lit by some distant town. Sometimes you can't see them until you finish post-processing.

Funnily enough, I am contemplating upgrading to an HEQ5, though because I've taken apart my EQ-5 to re-grease it, which made it 100 times smoother, it doesn't seem as "tight" since I put it back together. However, I have to say I'm pleased with the way it's working and it is working better than when I first got it.

As for your image, it looks good, and I like the spikes you've added onto the stars. It's quite colourful...did you mess with the colours in the post processing?

I can't quite recognise what's what in your image though. Cassiopeia is out of my range at the moment, (trees and stuff block me from shooting north)... hang on though, loaded up a star map and I've got it now. 50mm always produces a less wide image than I expect. You missed out a bit of the "W" off the left, and the Double-Cluster is a fair bit away to the left. The glow just looks like low clouds to me, lit by a nearby town or something perhaps.

cheers guys, i worked it out. The glow is the M6 Junction 17 :D :D :D

Can't wait to get a proper mount and get some close ups more than 180mm

Just did some basic PS work, levels, curves and taking out the light pollution.

Getting really into this astrophotograhy lark now even after 2 pictures.

Helps that I have used PS alot with glamour shots.

I am too after a HEQ 5 mount or a EQ with goto function.

Getting there. I think the glow could be amp glow from your camera though :-(

not seen it on other pictures. I did slightly different light pollution removal on this picture and decided to leave the glow there as it made a nice difference to the picture.

That region of the sky is directly over the M6 (it is 1 mile away from my house) and also Manchester is in that area too in the distance. It always has bad light pollution.

I like it. Vast improvement over the first ones. Well done.
