My husband kissing our daughter. Can you help me a bit with lighting or how to make the image sharper? I was using natural light from the window on a canon 10D!

Thank you,
Jenni

I actually like the photo as-is, but I'm new at all of this, so I wouldn't know.

I do like how your husband appears to be having a tender moment with your daughter but her expression look like she is kind of oblivious to it. It's cute.

Thanks Ewins! She is so aware of the camera after all the practice I do with her that now she can't "un-pose" ha ha!

I really like this photo. I like the shadows, so soft and warm. They match the mood.
Dad really shows his love and your daughter is more interested in Mom and the camera.
Thanks for sharing.

Good shot. I like the lighting too, You could use Unsharp Mask in Photoshop to sharpen the photo, especially the area around your daughters eyes.

What lens were you using, The DOF looks to be really narrow, as your hubby seems to be mostly I.F. but your baby is on a slightly different plane and seems to be OOF. Increase the f number and more will be I.F.

Some USM would work wonders I think.

OH, cute shot! congratulations on your beautifull addition!

I like the lighting in this picture. If you wanted it to be brighter you could always up the ISO and take al ight reading from a darker area. Looks like you took the light reading off of your husband. Another area you could have used was between them. That's my rookie advice for ya.

Thank you for all your advice. I was suing a canon 50mm 1:4 lens.. I am so new I don't even technical terms. What's USM mean? sorry : ( embarassed!

USM in this sense means Unsharp Mask. Its actually a sharpening filter in PSCS (Photoshop). It can also be an option for a lens, ultrasonic motor, which yeilds extremely quick and silent AF (Auto Foucs).
