A pine siskin, says my wife...another common bird here in northern Wisconsin. They seem friendly enough; don't frighten too easily...they love thistle seed. Shot this with the 5d and Sigma 50-500mm, AV, f8, 1/100, ISO 100, at 417mm. PP in PSE 7.
Thanks for looking.

Don't tell her but it is certainly a Pine Siskin. And you are right they don't frighten easily unless startled. I can walk up to about 2' from those feeding on the socks when refilling the feeders. These guys and the Goldfinch eat roughly 25 lb's of thistle a week out of my backyard during the Spring.

Yeah, and thistle seed ain't cheap. It's worth it though. Our winters here can be tough on birds, deer, etc. Bob
