I have a PowerShot G2 and I recently upgraded from Windows XP Professional Vista Home Premium and I have been unable to locate the Vista WIA drivers that are free. Does anyone have a URL where I can download the appropriate Vista drivers for my PowerShot G2?
Thank you very much for your help,
Ed

Surely, after 30 people have looked at my post someone must have an idea of how I can download the drivers are where they are located. Whereby posted in the wrong queue or form?
Thank you,
Ed

One of the challenges with the G2 is that it is old and obsolete. Now don't get upset with the comment, but it is an old camera. I will quickly ad that I absolutely LOVED my G2. I bought it about 7 years ago, paid $1200. for it and it served me very faithfully for 6 years until I sold it to buy a G9. Never a problem, never a hitch of any kind. The swivel screen is the biggest thing I miss with the G2.
back to your issue, When the G2 was replaced with the G3 and it was replaced with . . . . and so on, Windows Vista was not yet even heard of.
So if you go to the time when Vista was introduced, people like Canon and others seldom will create drivers for old hardware. It's just not worth their time and effort and cost.
You may be able to find a driver somewhere, but based on the explanation above, I doubt it.
I have Vista on my laptop and as soon as I can find the time, I am going to upgrade it to XP Pro. Speaking for myself, I have had so many issues with vista that I never want to own it on any of my computers again. XP is a great, stable OS and you can get any driver or software you want for virtually anything.
I hesitate to say this to you after you have just bought Vista. I k now some people like it but many don't.
Sorry if this is not the answer you are looking for. I did a quick search for Vista G2 drivers myself and found nothing.
Have you tried running the XP drivers? What about doing something with "compatibility mode"? That is running it as XP mode instead of Vista/
Good luck.

First, thank you very much for taking the time to write such a thorough and complete response.
There is no reason for you to be sorry about your response. It is what it is. Neither of us has control over the rush of time and the onslaught of change. If you did I suspect you would not have the time to create your response to my post.
I purchased a new system to take advantage of Intel's Core 2 processors when using Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional Version 10 with a product called KnowBrainer. I am using Dragon NaturallySpeaking and KnowBrainer to create my response to your post. On my old system the words appeared on my screen rather slowly. With this system it seems to words appear on the screen before I speak them.
I do an awful lot of writing and I was stuck in advanced math class with 7 other kids out of a class of 300. Most of the other 300 took typing. I think that had they placed me in typing I would've done more with my life because I would not have had to use so much time hunting and pecking keys on a board.
I've networked this new system to my server and my old Gateway system running Windows XP Professional with SP3. I was hoping that I would not have to run the old system to save energy and the environment but for a variety of reasons I discovered that I must do so. So I will keep it running and download pictures into that system.
In a world where the competition for resources is becoming increasingly frightening, I try to use as few of our precious resources as possible.
Thank you again for taking the time for such an informative response.
Ed
PS: Good luck to you, too.
