First try B&W, need critiques

Very good effort. IMHO, the right eye (and general area) is too dark and the background on the left too bright. Was this intentional because you can kinda see the graduation of light to dark?

How did you convert to BW, desaturate? Did you try using channel mixer, that would give you some contrast control, which this needs, and some sharpening. A catch light in the right eye would be nice too. Maybe cropping just the face as well. Hope I'm not asking for too much ;-)
