These are my first attempts at shooting the night sky. They are a little bit too grainy for my liking. My ISO was set too high, I think, at 1600. Taken with an XTi and the kit 18-55mm kit lens.

Just wanted to share these with the forum that inspired me to start doing this kind of photography. I'm currently looking into telescopes now!

From what i'm seeing both look great ! I really like em' and you caught the Milkyway rather nicely !

cool shots, i spend the school year in tucson and am back home in ohio now. i miss the gorgeous desert skies.

Nice attempt. The XTi can't really handle high ISO's like that without lots of noise. I'd recommend getting a tripod and a remote shutter release, and shoot longer exposures at ISO 100 or 200. Also try shooting with the lens wide open @ f/3.5. You will get better results.

haha of course. i love mt lemmon, such a beautiful gem of tucson. i would never make it to the top, until the last time i went. lot of cool houses and shops up there.

I love Summerhaven, went up there one day and just happened to stop in one of the restaurants. Best BLT Ive had for a long time. :D

Windy point (the location of the shots above) is my second favorite spot.
