I am learning how to use my canon rebel xsi on manual mode. I read the manuel. I turned the dial to M and followed the instructions, but all the pictures come out dark and blurred because the flash doesn't go off. Possibly a stupid questions, but I am new to this. What am I doing wrong?

In manual, the flash needs to be popped up manually. It will not pop up in manual by itself. Once up, it should fire?

I am in the same boat! Well, I have figured out how to run manual mode, but still learning how to get correct exposures, which will take some time as I learn to adapt to changing shots.

Love the camera though! Already considering a second lens purchase.
