I could do with some advise. I plan to buy my first DSLR. Usage: wildlife, landscape, macro (static flowers and dynamic bugs)
Most likely RAW only. Why is one of these preferable over the other. In the end also price is an issue:cry:
Thanks,
Paul

For me, it would have more to do with what I have already invested in lenses and other equipment than anything else. As to 20D vs. 350XT.......the specs speak for themselfs.

if your going to use raw only and use photoshop get hte 20D as adobe dosent have a plugin to view the 350d raw files yet.

You really need to decide between the specs between the two cameras. There is a difference in focus points, frames per second and more. Given what you have said that you want to shoot, either camera would be sufficient for those subject matters.
RAW is definitely the way to go. Simply because Adobe doesn't yet support the XT isn't a good reason to choose one over the other. You could use RSE which does support the XT and is free.

i heard somewhere that for Raw, the canons can only shoot in raw in the manual modes, whereas nikon can shoot raw in the auto and the semi-auto modes...not sure if that info helps you.

You are mistaken on this. You can shoot RAW in the auto modes. I regularly use my 20D in TV,AV,P, etc.

The "Green Box" is the fully automatic mode. The icons are for the Basic modes. Tv, Av, P, and all that are the Creative modes.
For some cameras, if you want to save RAW images, you must be in a Creative mode.

Photoshop does not as yet support the 20D RAW format as yet either.
